Greetings, House Concert fans:
Ahoy! The Pirate Brides are sailing into The Goodwills’ lounge room at Maleny on Sunday, 26th October. House Concert starts at 2pm.
The Brisbane-based four-piece band – Rose Broe, John Holmberg, Ryk Rostron and guest bass player Julie Witney – have appeared at major festivals, including Port Fairy and Woodford, produced three CDs and supported touring artists including Kevin Welch, The Fureys, and Foster and Allen.
They say of their music – “in an unholy mix of Aussie and Yank, go claw-hammer banjo and accordion, contemporary originals, bluegrass and old-time gems. Add four-part vocal harmonies, guitar, mandolin and double bass – you name it, they’ll smuggle it in, and out comes Pirate brides – lively, polished and irreverent.”
The House Concert starts at 2pm with a bracket from hosts ‘The Goodwills’– back from a three month trip to WA with a few new songs from the upcoming new CD, ‘The Last Waterhole’, as well as some of the old favourites.
Tickets cost $15/$12 and bookings are essential, as space is limited. Yummy afternoon tea is available. Contact Laurel on 5435-233 or 0418 187-104 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for bookings and directions to the venue.
Goodwills’ house concerts are sponsored by QFF.
