Glasshouse Muso’s update

Dear friends,

The Musos is pleased to announce some changes to our sessions to welcome in a late new year. From February we will be starting a new session at Wild Rocket @ Misty’s in Montville (142 Main St, Montville) on the first and third Thursday from 6.30 to 9.30pm. We will still be at Eudlo on the first Sunday afternoon but will now be at our Glasshouse Coffee Gardens on the third Sunday afternoon only. We’re hoping the days will be easy to remember:  the first and third Thursday and Sunday!

We’ve been keen to start a mid week evening session as we know that suits a lot of people, so it was a matter of finding a venue, and we have found a fantastic one. It is an a la carte restaurant that serves wonderful food, has a good bar and an outdoor undercover space that will sit Peter and Belinda at Wild Rocket are keen to encourage regulars to our sessions and will provide very reasonably priced meals on the Thursday including a range of delicious gourmet burgers. We’re sure it is going to prove very popular, especially with Musos from the Nambour, Palmwoods, Landsborough and Maleny areas, all of whom are only a short drive away.

Our themes are a fun item and inspire people to try something new so we are continuing with those. What about this for the coming months:

February: With Valentine’e Day a feature of the month we thought that songs of intimacy was a suitable theme. There is certainly enough love songs out there – surely at least one in every singer’s repertoire!

March: Eric Clapton was born in March and is 70 this year. It has got to be an Eric Clapton month! He has written many great songs and played with so many fantastic musicians over the years, it would be hard not to find something that fitted with Eric.

April: What about covers but with an original quality? Most of us enjoy messing with someone else’s song, making it one of our own. Others amongst us just can’t sing it anything like the original anyway so it sounds like one of ours! Of course you don’t have to go as far as the infamous Stairway to Heaven sessions, (though I reckon my swing version of that one wasn’t too bad).

May: Bob Dylan is a May baby and everyone loves to air a song or two of Bob’s. He is 74 this year so not a special one for him, but his influence remains enormous, so a Bob Dylan month is always a popular idea.

And, as is always the case, our themes are only there for those for those who want to latch onto them – we welcome anything at the Musos! (When was the last time you heard a good CJ Dennis poem live? I enjoyed immensely Martin Pearson performing an extract from the Sentimental Bloke at Woodford this year. Poets welcome at the Musos!)

Please note that if you’re coming from further afield and would like to negotiate a longer set, just get in touch with me and I’ll happily look at it and promote your appearance. And as always if you want to book a time to play, just send me an email.

Long live the performing arts and live entertainment!
