Sunday 15th March at Folk Redlands:
Mark Ziza – daring to be different
Guitarist/vocalist, Mark Ziza’s style has been described as “off the mainstream altogether”. After being told “guitar is easy, it’s only the first twenty years that’s hard”, Ziza, has since proudly told his father “I’m getting paid to do this stuff now”.
Ziza plays his trusty Fender with adept wizadry and a quirky blues sensibility, and his uniqueness is paying off. Ziza has performed at many major music festivals including Woodford, Blues’n Grass Music festival and Neurum Creek.
His interest in music was sparked as a 3 year old when staying at a friend’s house and discovering that his young friend had his own record player already. Years later, Ziza spent a small fortune on a “Sanyo” mono cassette recorder, and so began a long affair listening to everything from ACDC to Liszt.
Ziza performs originals and covers from a Delta Blues classic to an unconventional Tom Waits ballad.
