News about Morningsong, The Folk Choir, and Art.
Here’s all the news about Morningsong Choir, The Folk Choir and my new art exhibition.
The Folk Choir
We are starting up in our NEW VENUE this week, on Thursday 16 July. Come along if you like folk music and harmony singing and good company and soup.
Venue: Red Hill Community Sports Club (formerly Ithaca Bowls Club), Fulcher Road, next door to the Broncos.
Time: Doors open 6.45, come and have some delicious, warming pumpkin and white bean soup for a gold coin donation. We sing from 7.15 and finish at 8.45.
Cost: $15 casual attendance or $120 for full 10-week term.
Other details: There is plenty of parking at the new venue. We’ll be starting some new songs and singing some old, singing songs Rebecca and Donald taught last term, and enjoying finding some harmonies to a chorus song together. If you have a friend who’s been wanting to sing, bring them along. If you would also like to sing on a Friday morning, come along to Morningsong!
For the second week in a row, we are unable to access the upstairs hall at the Bulimba Uniting Church, so we will be singing at the Bulimba Senior Citizens hall again, which was a lot of fun last week. We started two new songs last week and enjoyed revisiting some more familiar repertoire too, plus some new short songs!
Venue: Bulimba Senior Citizens Hall, cnr Stuart Road and Barramul St (beside the big park), Bulimba.
Time: Friday mornings, 9.30 – 11.30am.
Cost: $10 concession, $15 waged for casual attendance.
And Morningsingers, I’m considering making our times 10 am – 12 just for winter, to make it easier to get out of bed in the chill. What are your thoughts? Would it suit you?
Nicole’s art show at Toowong Library.
For the rest of July and all of August, I have new paintings on show at the Toowong Library, in the display cabinet. All of the works have been created using salvaged books. That’s what I’ve been doing with every spare minute! There’s a picture at the top of this email. Please drop in to the library, on the top floor of Toowong Village shopping centre, and let the library staff know you came to see the art!
In other notices:
• A date claim: The Peersing will be on October 17 this year. More details soon.
• The wonderful Irish storyteller Joe Lynch will be performing at The Bug (New Farm Bowls Club, Brunswick St), next Tuesday 21 July. His performance is always magical and I highly recommend hearing him. I think he will be on about 8pm.
See you soon,
