FOLK by the SEA (22-24 September 2017) is an intimate folk festival style event featuring the sounds of folk, world, roots, Celtic, bluegrass and gypsy music over 3 days in the picturesque seaside town of Kiama, famous for its blowhole.
Online applications are now open for interested artists.
Please read through this page before submitting an expression of interest to performer. The form is at the end of the page.
This is a small and intimate folk festival (6 venues, 50 acts, 120 concerts) – nothing like the intensity of the Illawarra Folk Festival, if you have ever experienced it!
Fees are low to modest and cover expenses essentially so please do not go past this point if you have expectation of a large fee.
The festival is presented by volunteers the Illawarra Folk Club, a non-profit incorporated association. Many of these volunteers are performers themselves and are providing their effort to promote, share and enjoy folk music.
The Illawarra Folk Club is a non-profit incorporated association with the objective to present and encourage folk music and folklore as it exists in Australia and abroad, in all its most genuine, and valuable musical, social, historical, cultural and pleasurable forms.
